Some more depth between the pipes for the team in Hollywood. On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Kings signed goaltender Jacob Ingham to a one-year, two-year contract that will carry through the end of this season.

Don’t doubt Jacob Ingham. It’s a lesson everybody should have learned by now. Originally selected in the sixth round by Los Angeles at the 2018 NHL Draft, the 6-foot-5 netminder went on to post impressive numbers in the OHL before rocketing to the top of the Kings depth chart for goaltending prospects just a few years later.
In sort of a deja vu moment, about an hour after the Kings lost a lead in the final minutes of their game Thursday night in Florida, the Ontario Reign — playing some 3,000 miles away in Calgary — gave up a game-winning goal to the Wranglers with only 2:53 remaining in regulation.
Thus far, 2024 has started out exactly as Reign coach Marco Sturm had hoped. The team has played one game, and they have one win. With a 2-0 shutout of the visiting San Jose Barracuda on Friday night, rookie goalie Erik Portillo earned his second victory of the season over San Jose.
For the final time in 2023, the Ontario Reign will host a game at Toyota Arena. And their opponent will be a familiar one, as they also played the Silver Knights less than 24 hours ago in Henderson.
This is it, the final weekend of 2023, and the Reign will end things with a home-and-home series with the Henderson Silver Knights. It’s a set that kicks off in Nevada before returning to SoCal for a New Year’s Eve finale.
