Matteo Darmian feels that the footballing ideas of coach Simone Inzaghi have allowed everyone at Inter Milan to grow.

The 34-year-old spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, during the Nerazzurri’s Serie A title parade.

Darmian has now won his second ever Serie A title with Inter.

The former Manchester United and Torino defender had first won the Scudetto in the 2020-21 season, under Antonio Conte.

Darmian had not necessarily been a regular starter that season.

However, the Italian international did still make a big contribution that campaign. There were key goals in the run-in against the likes of Cagliari and Hellas Verona.

This season, though, Darmian has had more of a role than ever.

Former Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi has really gotten the best out of the veteran defender.

Darmian has shone playing at both wingback and in the back three for Inter under Inzaghi.

Matteo Darmian: “Inzaghi Has Made Everyone At Inter Grow”

Darmian said of Conte and Inzaghi that “They’re two coaches who’ve been very important for my career.”

“I’d already worked with Conte in the national team,” the 34-year-old noted.

“Arriving at Inter and integrating was easier because of him.”

“Then he and my teammates made everything fantastic,” Darmian said. “We immediately won the Scudetto, it was incredible.”

“Then Inzaghi, as you can see, is a calm person. He gives you peace of mind.”

“With his footballing ideas, he’s made this entire team grow a lot,” Darmian said. “Not just me.”

“But there’s always room to improve,” he made clear.

“Even if I’m starting to get a bit older,” Darmian admitted.

The Italian international stressed that “I always try to do my best and help the team.”

Darmian called winning the title “The greatest joy as a footballer.”

“I’m proud of my teammates,” added the 34-year-old. “And of everyone who’s been a part of this journey.”

“Everyone has brought their own qualities. Particularly on a human level.”

“They’ve all made this possible,” Darmian said.

“This is an incredible celebration. It’s a beautiful moment.”
